Looks like my brother is doing his part in his new home town. Take a look at this article. (link)
Pretty cool if you ask me.

I've been reading a great book about the state of the food industry in America. It's called "The Omnivore's Dilemma". I'm not going to get all preachy or stop eating beef, but it is pretty interesting (and scary). Joe being able to locally grow food without harming the environment puts him on a very short list.

Why is it that Joe growing oysters behind his house is "doing his part," but when my neighbor grows peyote behind his house, he gets stiff-armed by the law?

that is totally cool! I didn't know your brother lived out in Southampton; I love it out there. I taught an ecology class out there to kids many moons ago.

ps- I also agree with Andy's sentiment :)

Maybe we should grow peyote ...

Also, LOVE The Omnivore's Dilemma. I think that book affected me more than any book I've read since college. Michael Pollan should be the Minister of Agriculture and the head of the FDA.
